Hi. Welcome to my site.
I'm glad you dropped by. Now that you're here, you can call me Nick. The Nicholas thing is, perhaps, a bit formal, but it does serve to prevent people from mixing me up with Mick McCarthy, the former Irish Football Team Manager – now at Wolves.
I'm living in my native Tipperary this past 24 years, but prior to that, I lived in England for 30 years. Mainly London, or home counties to the west of it. As a result of that, and my subsequent musical career, I can safely say that I know London and most of the UK like the back of my hand, and some of my fondest memories are of there.
I got my first guitar at the age of 17 or so, and with the aid of Bert Weedon's "How To Play In A Day" tuition book, I launched into what was to become a lifetime love affair with music. Elsewhere on this site you can get a gist of the highlights of my musical life, but it is within the little clicks of fate – the twists and turns that led to things happening – or not happening, that the real story lies. However, all of that for another day. (Anyway, I expect you're busy at the moment).
I enclose a poem. Not that I'm a poet, but that didn't stop some of the others. It's a cheerful little thing called:
'The Moor'.
I feel that this introduction to my my site will, over time, become like a series of 'Letters From America' – except, in this case – Ireland!
Till the next time,
take care, stay safe,
Nick McCarthy
